Thomas, known in the source as Lionel, is a philanthropist who co-created the Spark Generators with Mina a decade ago. He stayed on Tenebrous Isle to become its leader in the capital, Ossex. When the generators began to malfunction, he summoned Mina to fix them. However, the source reveals that Lionel was aware of the generators' harmful effects and had been burning letters of warning from Thorne. He manipulated events, convincing guests that Mina was behind the troubles, and ultimately transformed into a monster after revealing he had controlled the Spark's power and was the creature that attacked Mina's ship. His actions led to chaos on the island, with Mina blamed for his death and the generators' destruction.

In Their Own Story

Mina arrives on Tenebrous Isle to meet Lionel, but her boat is attacked by a large creature. After fending off Thorne's attack on Ossex, Lionel informs Mina that six of seven generators have dulled and asks her to fix them. As Mina travels, Thorne warns her the generators are causing the hostile environment. Lionel tells Mina to stop Thorne from destroying them. Later, Lionel convinces Thorne that Mina intends to shut off the generators, then throws Thorne onto a generator, transforming him into a monster. Lionel invites Mina to dinner, where he accuses her of the recent events and locks down the manor. Mina fights her way back, defeats Lionel's servant Furgus, and confronts Lionel. He reveals he controlled the Spark's power and was the monster that attacked her ship. He transforms and fights Mina, with Thorne joining. After Thorne is critically wounded, Mina follows Lionel to the core generator and defeats him by destroying it in an explosion, shutting down all generators. In an epilogue, Mina is blamed for Lionel's death and the destruction, while some areas like Nox Bayou are healed. In a post-credits scene, Mina heals Thorne with her last Plasma Vial. In an alternate ending, if Mina avoids crimes, she can join Lionel, who tells her Thorne's rebellion was crushed.
